Purrsonality Pics Using AI

When we heard that Arm & Hammer cat litter had teamed up with the ASPCA to roll out an AI tool to help boost adoption for shelter cats, we knew we had to spread the word—and let those who use the tool know they can win $100 with us! It’s a cat-tastic win-win if you ask us.

Wren and Pelican AI
What’s better than one new BFF? Two new BFFs! Wren (orange) and Pelican (grey) are looking for a home who has space for them both. They are a dynamic duo and they bring out the best in one another! Pelican loves to play, and Wren is the quiet one of the pair. With love and patience, you’ll have trusting companions for life!

Arm & Hammer and its creative agency Razorfish unveiled AI-generated “Purrsonality Pics” during the ASPCA’s virtual cat adoption event in June which is “Adopt a Shelter Cat Month.” The next virtual adoption event will be on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, via ASPCA’s Facebook and Instagram and we cannot wait to see what the artists come up with.

Why AI?

Momo AI Photo
Now that all her kittens have found loving homes, it’s Momo’s turn! She can be shy at first but is a real lovebug after getting to know you. This quirky girl adores her friends and will keep them company throughout the day. She also hopes to have a big toy collection one day, because she really enjoys chasing after them!

“The cat portraits aren’t just ordinary photos. Using generative AI, each picture aims to capture the unique personality of each cat, making it easier for potential adopters to feel an instant connection and lead to better adoption matches.” Many times, the cats may appear scared in adoption photos as they are in a new place, therefore, the photos do not match their personality. Reserach has shown that temperament is the most important reason for adopting a shelter cat which is why using AI is such a great assest to reveal the unique personalities of the shelter cats in way traditional photos cannot.

“By conveying each cat’s authentic character—whether it’s playful, curious, feisty, or affectionate—this tool helps potential adopters connect more deeply, leading to better adoption matches,” says Jamie Perruquet, senior vice president, executive creative director at Razorfish. “It’s a powerful example of AI being used in a creative way for good and gives otherwise overlooked shelter cats a greater chance at finding their new families.”

As part of the initiative, Arm & Hammer also sponsored a match campaign that raised $200,000 in 72 hours for the ASPCA. Learn more about “Purrsonailty Pics” at MediaPost.com.
